Here are two options that will help you create secure passwords, one is to use auto generated passwords and the other, is to use a short string of random words. Ensure, that passwords contain at least ten characters and have a combination of characters such as commas, percent signs, and parentheses, as well as upper-case and lower-case letters and numbers. Few other best practices that can be followed to ensure password security are mentioned below.

• Avoid noting down passwords in physical records.  

• It is advisable to set varied passwords for all your accounts and devices. 

• Develop mnemonics or use a password manager to remember complex passwords. 

• Consider using a password manager program to keep track of your passwords. These programs offer the option to create randomly generated passwords for all your accounts and a master password that you create will grant you access to these randomly generated passwords. 

• Avoid setting passwords based on personal information such as pets name or birthday which can be easily identified.  

• Ensure that you log out after using a public computer to access your personal accounts.  

• Update your browser, operating system and other software to the last version always. 

• Regularly, update and check the antivirus software and firewall on your system. Also, ensure that your antivirus program detects malware.  

• Be cautious before accessing attachments and untrusted links from unknown recipients.  

• Look out for suspicious activity on your accounts and devices.  

• Use MFA or biometrics especially for accounts containing sensitive information.
