About YouGrowIT

The IT person your business actually talks to

YouGrowIT is run by Ben Waywood, who has spent twenty years fixing business IT — and running this business since 2007. When you call, you're not entering a queue at a call centre. You're reaching Ben — the person accountable for your systems.

Where we came from

The business began life as IT Help, wiring smart homes and AV systems — which turns out to be good training. Residential clients don't tolerate jargon, invoices that don't match quotes, or a technician who talks down to them. As the client base shifted from lounge rooms to offices, IT Help became YouGrowIT, and that standard came along with it.

Twenty years on, still no lock-in contracts — the work should be what keeps you.

Almost every client arrived because someone recommended us, which is a slower way to grow and a much better discipline — it's the whole model, really.

How the model works

One person, accountable to you

Ben knows your business, your setup and your history. No re-explaining your printer saga to a different technician every time.

A specialist team behind us

Nobody is an expert in everything, and anyone who claims to be is selling something. When a job needs deep expertise — networking, security, a gnarly migration — Ben brings in the right specialist and stays accountable for the result.

They're people we've worked with for years, not a roster assembled on the day. And the fair question that follows — what happens when Ben is on leave, unwell, or already inside someone else's incident — has a plain answer: you're told who's covering and when, and they can pick it up because every client's setup is documented as a matter of course rather than living in one person's head.

Most of it gets fixed without anyone driving anywhere

Nearly everything is solved remotely, which is faster for you than waiting on a van in traffic. That only works if the person at the other end is patient and speaks plainly — so if you're not technical, you'll never be made to feel that's a problem. Nobody here sighs down the phone.

And when something has to be seen rather than described — a cable behind a desk, a port on the back of a machine nobody can name, a light that's the wrong colour — we can put augmented reality on your phone camera and draw on what you're looking at. You stop narrating, we stop guessing, and it's fixed in minutes instead of scheduled for Thursday. Onsite when it genuinely needs hands, across metro Melbourne.

Built to be left

Everything we set up is documented and standard. If you ever leave, you take clean documentation and working systems with you. Month-to-month pricing only works if we're never holding anything hostage — that's the point.

Enterprise tools, small-business sized

Everything we deploy is what a much larger company would run — Microsoft 365, managed devices, proper identity security, tested backup. What changes for a business your size isn't the technology, it's the amount of ceremony around it. You get the tools without the project managers.

Who we work with

Director-led small businesses around Melbourne — manufacturers, trades, professional services, businesses winning contracts bigger than their IT was ready for. Usually five to fifty people. Usually no internal IT. Always allergic to jargon.

Being small isn't the compromise it used to be. Most Australian IT providers that publish a price won't take a client under ten users, so a six-person business gets told, politely, that it isn't worth the trouble. We built the packages around exactly those businesses — the same security and the same standards a fifty-person firm gets, at a monthly figure that makes sense for six.

And the trade normally made for that — a cheaper provider who cuts corners — isn't the trade here. What's different is our overhead, not your standards.

We also work behind other businesses. Accountants, bookkeepers, advisors and smaller IT providers bring us their clients — by referral, in open partnership, or under their own brand. How partnerships work.

The boring-but-important bit

Trading since 2007 as IT Help, restructured into the current trust in 2021, and trading as YouGrowIT since 2022. Operated by Eden Enterprises Pty Ltd ATF IT Help Trust, ABN 72 312 152 267. We're based in Melbourne's west and work across metro Melbourne — most of it remotely, onsite when it genuinely needs hands. Support hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:30pm Melbourne time, excluding Victorian public holidays.

Closest to home, that means Point Cook, Werribee, Altona and Hobsons Bay, Footscray and the inner west, and the Melbourne CBD.
