Referrals

Almost every client we have came from someone like you

We've never run an ad. We've never cold-called anyone. Nearly every business we look after arrived because a director mentioned us to another director over coffee, or an office manager told a mate who was fed up with their IT.

That's not modesty. It's the business model — and it's why we can charge what we charge.

Why we'd rather grow this way

A referral costs us nothing to acquire, arrives already half-trusting us, and almost always turns into a better relationship than a lead who found us in a search result. That saving is real, and it isn't sitting in a marketing budget — it's in the price you pay.

It also keeps us honest in a way advertising never could. If the only way we grow is people recommending us, then doing a mediocre job on a small client isn't a rounding error — it's the tap turning off.

Every client is a reference. That concentrates the mind rather well.

The offer

Send someone our way, and you both get a month free

If a business you refer signs up for a support package: their first month is free, and so is your next one. No forms, no codes, no minimum term to sit through first — the credit appears on your invoice once they're on board.

They sign up for a packageYou both get a month free
They have a one-off project done$250 credit to you
You're not a client yourselfCash or a charity donation

Not a client? Plenty of people who refer us aren't — former clients, friends of the business, people we helped once years ago. Tell us where to send it, or nominate a charity and we'll send it there instead. Some people prefer that, and we're happy either way.

Why we give something to both of you

Because the reason people hesitate to recommend a supplier isn't the size of the reward. It's not wanting to look like you're on commission.

Nobody wants to be the person at the barbecue who turns out to have an angle. So we made it two-sided on purpose: you're not selling to your mate, you're giving them something. The conversation stops being a pitch and goes back to being a favour, which is what it was to begin with.

And if you'd rather take nothing at all, that's completely fine. Say so and we'll just say thank you properly. The offer exists to remove an awkwardness, not to buy anything from you.

What we promise the person you send us

This is the part that actually matters. When you recommend someone, you're lending them your judgement — and if it goes badly, it's your name that wears it, not ours. So:

We'll tell them if we're not right for them

Too small for a package, better off staying put, or needing something we don't do — they get told plainly, and pointed somewhere better. We'd rather lose the job than have you regret the introduction.

No pitch, no pressure, no follow-up campaign

One honest conversation about what they've got and what it would cost. If the answer is no, that's the end of it — nobody rings them in three months to "check in".

We won't contact them out of the blue

We get in touch when you've told us they're expecting to hear from us, or when they reach out themselves. Referred contacts never go onto a mailing list.

Your name stays yours

We won't use you as a reference, quote you, or put your logo anywhere without asking you first, every time. Same rule that applies to every client here.

Three ways to do it

  1. 1. Just give them our number. 03 9028 4358, or send them to this site. Tell us their name when you get a chance so the credit finds you.
  2. 2. Send us theirs. Use the contact form or email admin@yougrowit.com.au with who they are and what's going on. We'll wait until you've told them to expect us.
  3. 3. Introduce us by email. The easiest one for everybody. Put us both on a thread and we'll take it from there without you having to explain what we do.

If it's easier to send them a specific page, the ones people forward most are the packages, what IT support costs and leaving free Google Workspace.

Straight answers

Is there a limit?

No cap and no expiry. If you send us four businesses this year, that's four months. We're not going to design a scheme with tiers and terms — if it ever gets big enough that we need to, that's a good problem and we'll talk to you about it first.

When does the credit land?

Once they're set up and their first invoice has run. It appears on your next invoice as a credit — no claiming, no reminding us.

What if I mentioned someone months ago?

Tell us and we'll honour it. We keep track of where people came from because we're genuinely interested, but if we've missed one, we've missed one — say so and it's sorted.

I'm an accountant or another IT provider. Is this me?

Probably not — there's a proper arrangement for that. See partners and white label, which covers referral, open partnership and working entirely under your own brand.

Can I just say something nice publicly instead?

Honestly, that's worth more to us than any referral fee. A Google review takes two minutes and it's the thing that makes the next person comfortable ringing us. There's no reward attached to that one — which is rather the point.

Someone in mind?

Tell us who they are and what's going on with their IT. We'll take it from there, gently.
