How to leave us

Every IT provider says "no lock-in". Very few will tell you, before you sign anything, exactly what happens on the day you want out. This is that page — and it's here because a promise you can read in advance is worth more than one you have to test.

The short version

Tell us in writing before the end of a billing month. The change takes effect from the next one. No minimum term, no exit fee, no notice period beyond that. We don't bill for a month you've cancelled and haven't started.

Projects already underway, or quoted and accepted, finish and are invoiced as agreed — cancelling support doesn't cancel a job mid-flight. That's the only asterisk, and it's in the terms too.

The handover costs nothing. It's part of the service, not a professional-services engagement quoted at the worst possible moment.

What actually gets handed over

Not "we'll cooperate with your new provider". This list:

Administrator access

Global administrator on your Microsoft 365 tenant, and every other admin account we hold, transferred to you or whoever you name. Ours are then removed, and you can verify that yourself in the audit log.

The domain name

Registrar access and DNS control, including anything we've set up for mail — SPF, DKIM, DMARC records and what they're for. Domains are the single most common thing a departing client can't get back, so it's first on the list.

Documentation

How your setup is put together: what's where, what talks to what, which vendor supports which system, what's been done and why. Written for whoever comes next, not as a list of ticket numbers.

Passwords and credentials

Exported from the password manager and handed over securely. Not read out over the phone, not emailed in a spreadsheet.

Licences and subscriptions

Anything in our name that should be in yours gets moved. Anything we can't move, we tell you about before you give notice rather than after.

Your data

Backups made available for you to take a copy, with time to check they restore before anything is decommissioned. Nothing of yours is deleted from our systems until you've confirmed you have what you need.

If your next provider wants a call to walk through it, they get one. Handovers that go badly cost the client, not the outgoing provider — which is precisely why so many of them go badly.

What we won't do

  • Hold a password to slow you down. Access is how the job gets done. It isn't collateral.
  • Produce a sudden discount. A price that only appears when you're leaving is an admission the old one was wrong. If ours stops being worth it, the honest response is to let you go.
  • Register your domain, tenant or licences in our own name in the first place — so there's nothing to argue about at the end. If you arrived with something already stuck in someone else's name, we tell you at the start and fix it if we can.
  • Make it uncomfortable. We'll ask once what went wrong, because it's worth knowing. Then we get on with it.

Why publish this at all

Because "month to month, no lock-in" is now said by nearly everyone, and it has stopped meaning anything. The part that's rare isn't the notice period — it's whether the exit is designed or improvised.

And a business that's read this page before signing up is choosing us for the right reason. Anyone we keep only because leaving is a hassle is a client we're not really earning, and we'd rather know.

It isn't a hostage negotiation. It never was.
