Websites

A website you actually own

Most small business websites are rented. The design belongs to a template company, the content lives inside a platform you pay every month to keep the lights on, and the day you decide to move you find out what "your" website really means.

We don't build those.

Yours, in every sense that matters

Everything we make is plain code — open source, no licence, no subscription, nothing proprietary in it. It lives in your account, on your domain.

If you stopped talking to us tomorrow the site would keep running, and another developer could pick it up on Monday.

That's the same position we take on IT support: the things you're paying for should be yours while you're with us, and still yours if you leave.

What you own from day one

  • The code, handed over
  • Your domain, in your name, wherever it's registered
  • The hosting account, set up free in your name
  • The content, the photos and the words

What there isn't

  • A licence fee
  • A builder subscription that switches the site off if you stop paying
  • A monthly charge just to keep it online
  • Anything to hand back if you walk

We'll write it, too

The reason half-built websites sit unfinished for months isn't the build. It's the words. Somebody has to write an About page, and that somebody is always the person with the least spare time.

So we do it. Send us whatever exists — an old brochure, the current site, three paragraphs in an email, a voice note in the car — and we'll turn it into pages and send them to you to correct.

You'll be editing sentences, not staring at a blank page.

It's included in every build, including the cheapest one. It's the single most common reason a website project dies at eighty per cent, and it costs us less to solve than it costs you to keep putting off.

Bigger builds

Quoted
scoped in writing before anything starts

For a site with more structure, or one that has to talk to something you already run.

  • More pages, more structure
  • Joining the site to a system you already use
  • Bookings and payments where they're an embed
  • Or hourly at $181.50 inc GST if you'd rather see the meter
Talk about a bigger build

Prices are a starting point, not a quote. What moves them is page count and how much structure you need — and you'll have the number in writing before anyone starts. Same rule as every other project we do.

Why it's less than everyone else

The going rate in Australia for a five-page small business site is $1,200 to $3,000. We sit under that, and you're entitled to know why before you wonder what's missing.

Most of that gap is overhead — account managers, design rounds, project management, a studio. There isn't any here. The build is AI-assisted, done by the person you'll be talking to, on the same stack as the site you're reading right now.

You're paying for the hours it takes — and a person still checks every page before it goes live.

It's the same argument as our IT support pricing: we'd rather publish the number and explain it than quote it privately and hope you don't compare.

What's not included

  • Photography and video. We'll work with what you have, and tell you honestly when the pictures are the thing holding the site back.
  • Logo and brand design. We'll use the brand you have. We're not a design studio and won't pretend to be.
  • Online shops, member areas and logins. A different kind of job and a permanent obligation, so we don't take it on. Bookings and payments are fine where they're an embed of something you already use.
  • Ongoing changes after launch. Covered below, two ways, neither of them a retainer you can't leave.

After it's live

Small changes as they come up — a price, a photo, opening hours, a new staff member — are included in a marketing plan from $275 a month, alongside the posting. Or leave it and pay hourly when something needs doing, at $181.50 inc GST.

There's no third option where you pay us monthly for nothing to happen.

One honest note about editing it yourself

Because these sites are built as code rather than in a page builder, you can't log in and edit one yourself. That's the trade for a site that loads instantly, never needs patching and can't be broken by a plugin update.

For most businesses that's the right trade — the site changes four times a year and each change is a two-minute job for us. But if editing it yourself matters more than the speed, say so early and we'll tell you straight whether we're the right people.

Straight answers

What's it built with?

Astro and Tailwind — the same stack as this website. Plain HTML, CSS and TypeScript, all open source. No database, no admin panel, no plugins to patch, nothing that needs updating on a Tuesday because somebody found a hole in it.

That's not a technical detail for its own sake. It's why the site is fast, why changes are cheap, and why nobody — including us — can hold it hostage.

What happens to my domain?

It stays yours, in your name, wherever it's registered now. We'll set the records that point it at the new site. We won't take ownership of it, and we won't move it somewhere you can't reach.

Can I take it elsewhere later?

Any day you like. It's your repository and your hosting account — there's nothing to release, because we never held it. Any competent developer can take it from there.

Do I have to be an IT support client?

No. A website stands on its own. If you're already a support client it's the same people and the same invoice — and we already know how your business works, which shortens the whole thing.

Who this is for

Businesses with something real to show and no time to show it. Fabricators, trades, practices, family firms — five to fifty people, no marketing department, and a website that's either eight years old or has never existed.

Or ring 03 9028 4358 — a person answers. Tell us what you've got and we'll come back with what it would actually take.
