A small first step
Find out what you've actually got
Half a day on site, a written report, and a fixed price you know before we start. You don't have to become a client, and you don't have to know what's wrong — working that out is the job.
$808.50 inc GST per site ($735.00 ex GST)
Why this exists
Most people who ring us have been putting it off for years, and the reason is almost always the same: they can't describe their own problem well enough to ask for a quote. So the question they're really asking isn't what does support cost — it's how bad is it, and what am I in for?
Until now the only honest answer we could give was "someone has to come and look", which sounds like the opening move of an expensive conversation. So here it is with a price on it instead.
One known number, up front, to replace one unknown number you've been imagining.
What you get
What you actually have
Every computer, server, NAS, switch, phone system and cloud account we can find, written down. Age, condition, what it does, and whether anyone is still supporting it.
Who can get in
Accounts with access to your email and files, including ones belonging to people who left. Admin rights. Shared logins. Whether multi-factor authentication is actually on, or just switched on somewhere.
What is backed up, and what only looks backed up
Backups get checked against what they claim to cover — and we say plainly which of your systems has no backup at all. That's usually the finding that surprises people.
What is about to fall over
Hardware past its life, operating systems out of support, a vendor who has stopped patching something, a single disk holding twenty years of work.
What it would cost to fix
Ranked: what we'd do first, what can wait a year, and what we'd leave alone. With a price against each one, in writing.
And the awkward one
If the answer is that your setup is fine and you don't need us, the report says that. It has happened, and it costs us a client and buys a referral.
What it costs, and how that number is built
Nothing here is a special rate. It's our published pay-as-you-go pricing, added up in advance so you're not watching a clock:
Ex GST: $75.00 + 4 × $165.00 = $735.00. Writing the report is our time, not yours.
More than one site is quoted per site — a second location on the same day is cheaper than two separate visits, and we'll say so when you ask.
If the site turns out to be much bigger than described, we stop and tell you before we run over. We don't discover an extra day's work after the fact.
Straight answers
Do I have to become a client afterwards?
No, and the report is written so that another IT provider could act on it. A report you can only use by hiring us isn't an assessment, it's a sales document — and you'd be able to tell.
I don't know what I've got. Do I need to prepare something?
No. Not knowing is the normal case, and producing that list is most of what you're paying for. Bring whoever knows where the equipment lives and we'll do the rest.
Will you try to sell me something at the end?
We'll tell you what we'd fix and what it costs, because that's the point of the exercise. Nobody follows up more than once. There's no commission on it — there's no sales team to pay one to.
We're not in Melbourne.
We work across metro Melbourne. Further out, ask — travel is quoted separately and honestly, and sometimes the answer is that a local provider makes more sense for you.
After the report
Three things usually happen, and all of them are fine.
Some people fix the urgent items as a one-off project and carry on as they were. Some move onto a support package so it stops drifting. Some take the report to their existing IT provider and ask why none of it was mentioned — which is a legitimate use of it, and the one that tells you the most.
